Elohim // Commodore Ballroom // May 14 2018

I've seen Elohim popping more and more on my Spotify recommendations and social media over the past few months. But with me being me, it took me way too long to actually check out her music. I'm glad I did though because her sound is not only so unique from anything I've ever heard coming out of the electronic genre, but her lyrics and the message she is sending is so open and entirely needed. She's using her platform to openly speak on mental health which is something that is more needed than ever these days.

To this day though we don't know her by anything other than her alias (which means 'God' in Jewish), which is not only a bold move but one that she finds necessary to be able to send the messages she is, free from the world trying to analyze her entire existence. Even during her live show, she will wear a face mask or sunglasses to continue to conceal her identity, as well as distracting us with panels of graphics, and pre-recorded interaction, which is just as meaningful as if she were actually speaking to us mind you.

Being approached to shoot her set a the Commodore last month was such an honour, and I am beyond excited to see where her music and voice take her. If you want to catch her live, she's on tour across the US until September.
